3/16/10 - Census Questionnaires Mailed Today
FOREST CITY, NC – Census forms will be in your mailbox this week for most of Rutherford County. PLEASE take 10 minutes and answer 10 questions. It is very important to Rutherford County to have your census information, the more responses received the more money Rutherford County will be eligible from the Federal Government. Here are a couple of things you need to know:
1) If you mail back your form, census takers will not come to your house.
2) No banking information will be taken
3) No social security number information will be taken
4) If you receive your mail through a P O Box number, you WILL NOT receive a form and a census take may come to your home. This information is based on physical addresses NOT MAILING ADDRESSES. There will be locations around the county called ‘BE COUNTED’ where you can pick up a form and place it in the mailbox, those locations are being determined now by the Census Bureau.
5) If a census taker comes to your home, they will have proper identification. The Sheriff’s Department and 911 will be put on alert as they go out and visit our citizens. If they ask you for banking or social security information you are asked to call 911 immediately, because they are not legitimate Census Bureau Takers.
6) All information must be mailed back to the Census Bureau by April 15th, forms are being mailed now starting on the west coast and moving across the country.
7) If you know people that are undocumented, their information will be kept confidential as well. Census Bureau CANNOT give information to any agency, not even Homeland Security.
