7/19/2011-SFI Holding, LLC to create 50 new jobs
Forest City, NC – The Rutherford County Economic Development Commission is pleased to announce the location of SFI Holding, LLC doing business as Culinary Standards in Forest City, Rutherford County. SFI Holding, LLC has been formed from a merger of Simeus Foods International of Forest City, NC / Mansfield, Texas and Culinary Standards of Louisville, Kentucky. In addition to the 120 employees currently employed at the facility, this merger will result in over 50 new jobs for the community within the next few months. The company will be relocating a few key staff members from existing facilities and will primarily be hiring persons in management, supervision, finance, purchasing, scheduling and research and development in addition to full-time and seasonal production employees. Employment applications will be accepted beginning August 1st through the NC Employment Security Commission Forest City office and also at the plant.
President Kelly Hansen stated, “SFI Holding, LLC has made a sizable investment in the community with this acquisition and relocation of other facilities because we feel so positive about the community. We look forward to growing the operation here and bringing new product lines to Forest City. The announcement to bring the facility here is a real credit to the fantastic workforce we have at Simeus Foods International and we look forward to many successful years in the future. The consolidation will allow us to bring diced meats, side dishes, vegetables and other items to the meat and soup lines currently operating. Equipment should be installed and the new production underway by mid-September.”
Rutherford County Economic Development Commission Vice-Chair Terry Hines stated, “This presents a great employment opportunity for some people in our community to begin work almost immediately. I want to thank SFI Holding, LLC for their confidence in Rutherford County. In addition to local hires, the plans to bring some of the key personnel into the community also should be viewed very positively. The relocation of new families will result in a boost to the service and small business sectors of our local economy.”
Rutherford County Economic Developer, Tom Johnson, stated: “We recognize the importance of this new company and the impact Simeus Foods International has had over the years. The merger of Culinary Standards of Louisville, Kentucky with Simeus Foods International has been in process for several months. The end result will prove to be very positive for Rutherford County not only for today but for growth in the future.”
Other partners assisting include Isothermal Community College, the North Carolina Employment Security Commission and the Isothermal Planning and Development Commission.
